November 7 – 12 The 2017 Jim Flick Invitational is scheduled at Cabo del Sol’s spectacular Ocean and Desert Courses in Los Cabos. The tournament showcases a pro-am format, with professionals competing for $100,000 over 72-holes of stroke play, and foursomes (featuring one professional and three amateurs) battling in handicap-adjusted best ball contests to win a 5-day trip to the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews in Scotland. Formerly the TaylorMade Invitational, the tournament was renamed in 2016 in honor of the late Jim Flick, a PGA Professional and golf instructor for more than 50 years. Flick taught golf in 23 countries and worked with pros like Tom Lehman and Jack Nicklaus, with whom he founded the Nicklaus-Flick Golf Schools.

Kramer Hickok and Michael Block are the 2017 Jim Flick Invitational Champions. Event sponsored by Adidas Golf
Michael Block (Mission Viejo, California) came into the 2017 Jim Flick Invitational in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as the defending champion. Having suffered from some digestive health issues, and losing 20 pounds just weeks prior to the event, he didn’t like his chances. Although he was unable to capture the individual title, he was able to capture the team title with partners Adam Hopp, Rich Rutherford and Robert Jackson. He also finished runner-up to our 2017 Champion, Kramer Hickok (Dallas, Texas).
Kramer’s score of 20 under par (268) fell short of the tournament record, but his final round of 66 over the demanding Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol proved too much for the field to handle. His final score was 5 shots clear of Michael Block, and 6 shots clear of Bob Sowards. Both Michael and Bob are past PGA Club Pro champions, and regular competitors in the event.
Bob Toski was announced as 2017 Honoree of the Jim Flick Trophy, following on from Jack Nicklaus in 2016. At 91 years young, Mr. Toski entertained the crowd at the awards presentation with stories of his life in golf, and his relationship with Jim Flick. It was a memorable experience for all, and the tournament was truly enhanced by his presence.
We thank Colorado PGA Reach and the Military Warriors Foundation for their support and contribution to the tournament. Through the efforts of the participants, sponsors, and a fabulous live auction, an American hero will be awarded a mortgage-free house at the 2018 Senior Open at the Broadmoor.
A special thanks to adidas Golf. Their support of the tournament, fabulous welcome gifts, and participation went a long way to help make the tournament once again ‘The Best Week of the Year’.
