Anniversary Party at La Biblioteca de Tequila Restaurant Leaves Guests Breathless!
Few Mexican chefs have achieved international success quite like Richard Sandoval. The Mexico City born chef and television personality has now opened over 40 restaurants around the world, from the U.S. and México to Serbia and Qatar.
Sandoval added luster to the Los Cabos dining scene when he opened Toro Latin Kitchen & Bar, then followed that hit with La Biblioteca de Tequila at Breathless Cabo San Lucas in March 2016. Like Enrique Olvera, an acclaimed chef who built on successes in Mexico City and New York with a signature resort based eatery in Los Cabos, Sandoval has expanded his brand while also bringing an increased focus to a spectacular destination setting: in the case of La Biblioteca de Tequila, a picturesque corner terrace at the juncture of the Cabo San Lucas Marina and Médano Beach, looking out across the Sea of Cortés to the evocatively shaped granitic monuments at Land’s End.
Since opening in December 2015, Biblioteca’s host, Breathless, has showcased an Unlimited Luxury plan for guests in its 169 stylish suites, adding abundant dining options, a pampering spa, and perhaps most importantly, a chic and sexy party atmosphere that has completely transformed what in recent years had become a rather moribund corner of the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Not only has the resort proved popular with guests, but with Los Cabos locals, who have eagerly bought day passes to party in and around an expansive bayside infinity pool, music pumping against a backdrop of cruise ships and luxury yachts; and nighttime party passes granting access to fun themed fiestas like toga parties and “PJs and DJs.”
Breathless’ dining scene now matters too, thanks in large part to Sandoval. The acclaimed chef was in town again last week for the first anniversary of La Biblioteca de Tequila, holding court at an invitation only cocktail party as tequila, mezcal and Mexican style hors d’ouevres flowed freely, musicians strummed romantic rhythms, and some of the country’s premier tequila producers showed off their wares. Tequila is, along with Sandoval’s superb Mexican comfort food fare, the star at La Biblioteca. The elegantly appointed bar and restaurant offers over 150 different varieties of the national beverage, with special storage compartments available for those who’d like to keep their favorite bottles on hand for special occasions. The secret of the place, or course, is that every visit is a special occasion.
What’s better, after all, than sharing top-shelf tequila with that special someone as you relax on a comfortable couch, hair tousled by tropical breezes as the sky turns red, and the sun descends beyond Land’s End into the boundless Pacific?
